On February 4, 2026, a section of the Bengaluru-Hosur Road near Attibele experienced a sudden collapse. This happened during ongoing construction work done by the National Highways Authority of India. The incident caused major traffic disruptions, affecting many vehicles traveling on the busy route.
The collapse took place on the Attibele-Suryanagar section of the highway. As a result, the usable width of the road was reduced. This led to long queues of vehicles, some stretching for kilometers. Drivers faced delays and had to wait for the situation to improve.
The local officials from NHAI explained that the collapse happened during deep excavation work. The construction work involved building vehicular overpasses. These overpasses are being constructed to help improve safety and reduce accidents in the area. Such construction activities involve digging deep into the ground, which can sometimes pose risks if not carefully managed.
Despite the sudden collapse, authorities responded quickly. NHAI teams immediately began repair work. They focused on filling the affected section of the road and stabilizing the area to prevent further damage or accidents. The goal was to make the road safe for vehicles as soon as possible.
In addition to repair efforts, traffic management measures were put into place. Authorities arranged for traffic diversions. Drivers were advised to use alternate routes and expect delays during the ongoing work. The goal was to minimize the impact of the incident on daily commuters and freight movement.
